My New Tilda Doll

The Flower Garden Angel
Designed by Tonne Finnanger

The Flower Garden Angel

I was just hanging out yesterday to get into the sewing room. I had to make something with my new Tilda fabrics. I have had the book with the pattern for the Flowergarden Angel for  a while now and I was just so inspired to make her up.

As we dont have Tilda fabrics and accessories available here in New Zealand I had to improvise a little.

I used the Tilda hair threads for her hair but I had to create my own flowers, as I dont have the Tilda flowers. I just cut out a small circle and then cut slits around the outside.. creating a flower.

I used a lovely red and white gingham fabric from my stash for the tie

The same flower from the hair are on the shoes.

I didnt have any of the craft rubber for the soles of the sandals so I used felt instead

I didnt have the proper Tilda flower for the tie either so I handcut out another type of felt flower.

So this little lady was made yesterday. She didnt take me too long.. she looks just great sitting up on my table in our bedroom.

My little man is alot better.. just had a VERY bloodshot eye from having a chickenpox on his eyeball.. but other than that he is getting better.. He looks rather hideous with his spots and looks rather pale.. but is on the road to getting better.

Have a great weekend

WOW!!! You are too clever. That dolls looks amazing. It really does. And who needs special Tilda bits when you can be more creative and make your own for a fraction of the cost? Love her so much. I've never made any of the dolls or toys in her books before.

Your poor little boy! On his eye??! Didn't know you could have one there. I do hope he's over the worst of them now. Hopefully the long weekend will be lovely and sunny and he'll feel much better.

Your doll is so lovely! I like how you improvised with items you had on hand. Thats a true creative soul!

Hope your little man recovers soon. When my son had the chicken pox he even had them down his throat. The dr. said it was the worst case he had ever seen. To help with the itch you can let him soak in a cool tub of water with oatmeal in it. Or Aveeno is a bath soak if you have it in your country.

Hello,Lisa:-)
I discovered Your Blog not so long ago,as I can admit-I am the serious Tilda-Fan and also make Tilda-like dolls,in my own style, because I tendentionally did not want to keep tightly to Tone's designs.
I have read thoroughly that, what You have written here, like about flowers-creation,or shoes for the doll...I can say-that it is good ,that You make your own additions acordingly to Your own ideas. This makes you more creative and the doll, except for being resemble on the author's ideas, has got additionally Your own character and Your own...hmmm..Soul,which is more important, than even the best project by others. These are real*Lydias Treasures',that I have discovered here.
I would like to invite you to visit my blog : http://tildas-verden.blogspot.com
I am not new on blogger, but I had to decide to change the language into more comprehensive and communicative one.I come from Poland, but live in Denmark, where I use primarily English.People from other countries complained,as not to have been able to read anything properly, even with the use of 'google-translate',which is far away from perfect.
I have started from crochet projects, but I am going to remind all my previous dolls again, also to introduce new ones.
My Best Regards-HalinaDK-

Your wee doll is very cute.
I hope your son's eye heals well... maybe it would be prudent to get it checked by the doctor to make sure no damage has been done... I have heard pox in the eye can do damage.
